Request Mode (RQM) — Terminal Guide

Query current state of a given mode (not prefixed with ?3f ).

This only allows querying one mode per invocation.

For modes that are switchable the following replies are sent to the application:

If mode is set: ESC1b [5b Ⓝmode ;3b 131 $24 y79
If mode is not set: ESC1b [5b Ⓝmode ;3b 232 $24 y79

For other modes the terminal responds with one of the following:

ESC1b [5b Ⓝmode ;3b 030 $24 y79 for unknown modes.
ESC1b [5b Ⓝmode ;3b 333 $24 y79 for modes where the terminal behavior matches that of the mode in set state.
ESC1b [5b Ⓝmode ;3b 434 $24 y79 for modes where the terminal behavior matches that of the mode in reset state.

🛈 xterm reports modes 1, 5, 7, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 as 3 🛈 xterm reports mode 3 as 2.

🛈 vte reports modes 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 36, 37, 38 as 3 🛈 vte reports modes 21, 35, 40, 42 as 4
