If unset:

line feed from the application to the terminal is just a linefeed.

If set:

line feed from the application to the terminal automatically adds a carriage return
all communication from the terminal to the application automatically translates CR0d to CR0d LF0a

Usually translation from Linefeed ('\n') is performed by the kernel tty layer not the terminal. Applications generally expect this mode to be unset.

urxvt ( ✓ )

Only translates communication from terminal to application. Application to terminal direction is unchanged.

linuxvc ( ✓ )

🛆 Clipboard paste is not affected.
